I can start off like this - "Seeds of Jay Patel’s appreciation for beautiful places were planted early in his childhood...." but it would get boring really fast. I will just sum it up and say that I am a Landscape and Wilderness Photographer who loves to capture dramatic light. My photographs have been published in various magazines, calendars and advertising materials throughout the world. Varina Patel and I offer a variety of educational materials such as eBooks workshops, and webinars to help you learn photography.
I use Canon camera and lens. I don’t have a favorite lens and I don’t have a preference between crop factor and full frame camera bodies. My choice of camera and lens combination will vary depending upon the subject I am trying to photograph. If I am shooting grand vistas I prefer to use a wide angle lens and if I am using a macro lens I often use a crop factor body.
Here is list of all the equipment I use in the field: jaypatelphotography.com/jay
Beside the equipment listed here, I sometimes will use specialized lenses such as Tilt-Shift or zoom lens. I also enjoy the challenge of taking photos on my mobile phone.
I use just regular Win7 PC and a calibrated MAC monitor for processing. I calibrate my monitor with Data Color’s Spyder.
I use Photoshop for almost all our processing needs. I also use specialized programs such as Google’s Sharpener PRO (formally NIK Sharpener PRO) and OnOne Software’s Perfect Resize to prepare my photographs for Fine Art Prints.
From processing perspective I don’t really miss anything. I would like to get my hands on Canon TS-E lenses (Canon 24mm TS-E and Canon 90mm TS-E) and fast super zoom lens. These lenses would allow me to explore creative options that are just out of reach.
